I understand now - Honey One Shot

I would like to say before I being that One Shots will not be based off any episode(s) strictly but an accumulation of knowledge from the series and how I decide to interpret that knowledge in the fictional writing. One Shots are also completely different then my chapter writings and do not have anything to do with the plot or OC from that version. (I would like to remind people that Honey is 17 in the anime not a child) With that being said please enjoy.

Reader’s Perspective:
It had been several months since I had seen Honey-senpai and karate club hadn't been the same without him. I had heard the rumors of why he had left the karate club but it was still hard to believe and I needed to see it with my own eyes. Today was going to be the day that I finally visited the Host Club even if what everyone said was true I needed to hear it from the master I looked up to.

Finding myself in front of Music Room 3 I took a deep breath pushing the doors open and letting my eyes adjust to the light before looking around at the giggling girls and smiling boys. I must have looked lost because in a matter of moments a tall, dark haired male with glasses approached me. “Welcome to the Ouran Host Club would you like to request a host today” he said looking down at the book in his hands instead of at me. Gulping slightly I started to respond before hearing, “______!” and lurching forward as a short blonde flew into my midsection.

“Kyoya, this is _____ I know him from karate club” Honey said to the other male before looking up at me with the biggest smile. He seemed so much happier here but I still wanted to know his reasoning, I had been his most devoted student and I felt so betrayed he hadn’t even told me. Feeling him tug me to a table away from the other guests I simply followed still trying to figure out what to say to him.

Sitting across from Honey-senpai I watched him eat cake and smile at me before I scowled, “why did you leave me” I ask still feeling as though this was personal. Setting his fork down the petite boy looked at me before trying to answer, “I needed to be myself” he said making me think back to the last few months he had been in the karate club. I felt slightly ashamed he had done this for himself yet here I was unhappy he didn't stay training me.

Looking into my cup of tea I felt my lip quiver as I refused to look up, “I’m sorry Senpai I was being selfish” I said just over a whisper. Hearing the chair scrape lightly against the floor I assumed he had left before feeling his arms around me again, “_____, it’s alright we should all be a little selfish” he whispered making my cheeks flush. Carefully I wrapped an arm around him before yawning slightly having found my here right after karate club.

“Come, let’s take a nap with Usa-chan” Honey said grinning and pulling me from my seat over towards a small, makeshift bed with a large pink bunny on it. “Usa-chan” I asked slightly confused before the small blonde dropped my hand and rushed forward hugging his bunny. Walking over I felt slightly awkward but he was my senpai and I was to respect him.  Standing there I watched him crawl onto the bed and curl up with the stuffed animal, sighing I caved into the wide-eyed looked.

Curling up with him I wrapped Honey in my arms and held him slowly falling asleep too tired to really protest or care anymore.  It felt so nice to be close to Senpai again, groggily I felt a blanket pulled around us but I didn’t move figuring it was Mori-senpai. Hours later I woke up to a pair of large bright eyes looking at me, “Good you’re awake _____” Honey said excitedly. Sitting up I rubbed my eyes before feeling a light warmth on my cheek. I wasn’t sure what had just happened looking over at the boy quizzically I wondered if he would tell me.

Honey just sat there and looked back at me smile wide and a light blush on his cheeks before he sprung forward knocking us both to the floor. “I’m so sorry I left you _____-chan” he sobbed and repeated leaving me laying there in shock. Wrapping my arms around him I realized only now that he had felt bad he had practically disappeared from my life. “Shhh Senpai it’s okay” I cooed softly as I pet through his hair and sat up keeping him in my lap.

As he sniffled and looked up at me calming down finally I blushed realizing all the other host members were watching us particularly Mori. Focusing on Honey I carefully dried his face as I watched him try desperately to compose himself, “Honey-senpai it’s okay I just missed you that’s all….we went from training every day together and then you just vanished without a word to me” I tried comforting with an explanation. I felt like I had failed miserably when tears started streaming down his cheeks again and he clung to my neck.

I watched Mori take a few steps towards us before leaning down, “Tell him Mitsukuni” I heard him say which made me wonder what it was my Senpai had been keeping from me. Sniffling the boy in my arms nodded before leaning back and looking at me his eyes still watery, “_____-chan” he started before taking a deep breath, “I didn’t tell you I was leaving because I love you and I didn’t want to hurt you” he finished quickly. It took me a minute to realize what Honey had said since he ran the words together but as it dawned on me my eyes widened, did he really just say he loves me I questioned myself.

Lightly I rubbed his cheek and smiled, “it’s okay Honey, I love you too” I said softly before kissing his forehead. He went from crying to beaming with joy in a matter of seconds which made me giggle though the awes we received from the others embarrassed me slightly.
